Below are some 'before & after' pictures that show the careful design, and construction it took to get this all done for them.

Here is one of our aluminum gutter jobs.  These were done in the white pre-painted aluminum gutters with Heritage Cream colored downspouts. This house is owned by a nice couple named Dolan/Blosser.  They had searched on-line for a gutter contractor to do the quality custom work we do and found our web site. It was hard to get good clear photos with all the trees around the house.

The bid, was for just under $2,200 w/all the No-clog advantages we offer and the 13 special mitered endcaps. We do not sell a lot of jobs right there on the spot, but they gave us the half down deposit that night to have us schedule in this work, even though we were booked a couple months out.  The final cost was a little over $2,400 for everything with the extra work we did for them as well.

Some of the extra addition to the bid were  things like where I had installed a 4' gutter that was not on the original bid, because there was no gutter there before (seen above left), adding a pair of painted fascia boards to give me something to properly attach the gutter to w/ new dripedge flashing, and a 10' ABS sewer pipe w/a 90 degree elbow.

As a courtesy I took it upon myself to fix up their gates on each side of their house with some longer coated deck screws to replace the nails and some long stainless steel screws to hold the latches on much better than the old short rusty screws they had. I even replaced the 32 small rusty screws holding the hinges on. They expressed how pleased they were with my work that was above and beyond the call of duty and would refer me when ever they could.

Day 1: I acquired all the parts needed and made up the custom colored Leaf-catchers and reducers for their house.

Day 2: I drove out to their house to remove and haul off the old gutters and get the exact measurements to process the new gutters for installation. As a courtesy, I decided to rebuild their right gate that was falling apart. I pre-drilled the holes in the 2x4 wood gate to avoid the wood cracking or splitting, and it took about 20 deck screws to replace the nails that had come loose, and 16 more screws to reattach the hinges. It also took 8 stainless steel screws that were 2.5" long to reattach the 2 latch parts.

Day 3: I ran out the gutters to length. There was about 118' of the white gutters in the 12 different sections. I was able to process all of the gutters but the 3 short sections for over the bay window in front.

Day 4: Below you can see the delivery of the new gutters all processed and ready to be mounted on the house. I got all the parts mounted that I had brought with me that day. I ran out of day light near the end, so I would not have been able to do more anyway.

I installed new painted fascia boards on each side of the front door entry roof. The one they had was only 2" tall, and the gutters hang well below the bottom of that board. I needed to also install a new dripedge flashing to make sure the rain would get into the new gutters.

Day 5: I got the last of the gutters processed, a funnel made, and the 2 gray roof trays.

Day 6: I got the last of the work done and recalculated the job to reflect only the material length that remained on the house.  They happily paid me that night, and we chatted about his work with Tri-met's light-rail projects.

This is a good example of how we do our gutter fabrication differently. Most gutter contractors will cut the bottom of the gutter open where it meets with the valley above. This is very hard on the shingles with all that river of water running down the valley and the mossy scummy water from the gutter on the roof below. We always seal the gutter where it meets with the roof, ant the base of the valley to catch all this rain water. Then we pipe it down to the roof below and then into a custom gray aluminum tray to safely get it into lower gutter.

Here is the deluxe hinged screens we use over aluminum gutters. With the powder baked black finish they have, they seem to blend in quite well. I lift on tab of the shingles over-lapping the screen to make sure it does not come open unintentionally. I have seen more problems with curious squirrels flipping them open than the wind. For some reason they are not polite enough to shut them when they are done.

Here is a close-up of the special mitered endcaps we can do. They ran a little less than $30 extra for each one.

The right entry gutter had a downspout mounted back by the door, but I made this gutter to have a downspout that ran down the roof support, so the pair of gutters would match, and also to get the rain water farther away from the foundation. It now extends well beyond the steps.

Riveting the pipe cleats on that hold the downspouts on the siding. It only has 1 pre-drilled holes in the middle on each side, with an unusable center hole. I drilled 4 outer holes for a better hold. I have since found a source for larger pipe cleats that have 3 pre-drilled on each side

The Back Side

This was on their garden shed out back. Since there was no sewer pipe to carry the rain away from the shed, I recommended they have me just cover the fascia boards with the aluminum sheet metal to protect them from further damage. It is held on with stainless steel nails. At no extra charge, using an off-set seamer, I bent out  the 90 degree rake edge metal the roofers had used as a dripedge flashing.
