Local Clients and E-mail
I do not filter my calls through voicemail like a lot of people these days (to avoid telemaket calls), but I may be at a job site up on a ladder and not have my hands free to chat for a while. I do much of my corresponding through e-mail, so we will have a written record of what was discussed and agreed upon. This way there is less possibility of misunderstanding later on. To e-mail me just click on the photo of the copper mailbox I made shown above, and it should launch your e-mail program with our e-mail addy in place and even a subject line that you can alter to suit your needs. If not; the e-mail addy is also shown in that image for you to type in, or copy and paste the web address with the word 'bid@' before it to replace the 'http://' part. Write me an e-mail with your contact info and a description of the work needed along with any digital photos you can share to help tell your story.

If I have received your e-mail I'll respond personally within 24 hours (unless I'm out of town, which is rare). We may be able to workout a quote on-line or in person. If I've not responded shortly after, call to make sure we got your message, or write me again with a different subject line (there's always the chance it may not have got through our spam filtering) On-line estimate may take a few e-mails back and forth with diagrams and digital photos, but I have been able to work it out with hundreds of clients that way over the last few years. Many who are out of State for our custom copper work that I do under the dba of Copper By Design.

Non-locals
I get a lot of out-of-State orders for the better gutter parts we have to offer, along with our custom sheet metal fabrication orders. See our other web site: http://copper-by-design.com/ship.htm. We will need to hammer out the details through e-mail, but I'm usually good about responding swiftly, so this should go relatively quickly. You can call my cell# to discuss the details faster than through e-mail, but I refrain from quoting projects over the phone, since it is very important to have this in writing to refer to later.

You can call my cell phone at: (503) 351-7082 and I will answer (if possible), but please keep in mind the time difference between time zones. If you are near the East Coast please remember how there is a 3 hour time difference; where 7AM there is only 4AM here on the West Coast. I can usually chat with you, but I am a hands-on Contractor, so I may need to call you back when I'm in a better place to talk (ie: down off a ladder), so please provide your contact name and phone number, so I can call you back at a better time to chat.
Payments and Wait Time
Again, you should read over our Latest News web page to see what my current schedule is for local work. For those needing small flashing kits that I can do in the shop in the evenings or bad weather that time-line should be a lot shorter; a week or 2, in stead of waiting over a year like my gutter clients. Most clients simply pay us by sending a personal check through the mail. I have a link to PayPal on our Copper-By-Design web site if you need to use a credit card for payment (see link below).

Our standard deposit for local gutter work is 1/3 down to schedule in your new project. Here is a copy of our contract form that you can print out and fill in to help protect your investment and legal rights. Just click on the image below to download that PDF file and print it out, or a Word file. Then submit the filled in contract form included with your deposit, while keeping a copy for yourself. I do not required you to fill this in. It just helps give you the power and control over how this project is to go, as it should be.

Deposit Requirements:
I will only schedule work with receipt of your deposit paid up front.
Full payment for gutter parts orders, or projects under $600.
Only half down for projects over $600.
Just 1/3 deposit for orders over $2k.
Only 1/4 deposit for projects over $5k.
For non-local orders I will be providing digital photos of the progress for your approval. I will need your final payment before shipping.
Credit Card Payments
Most clients have just paid with a personal check. I have yet to have any clients write me a bad check, so it has not been a problem.

I have a card reader to plug into my IPhone, but that does not help unless you are local. I can manually enter your card number, but that is not as secure as an on-line service like Paypal. I could tell you I am an honorable merchant, but any scoundrel would say the same thing of course.

I do have PayPal set-up under the e-mail: dar@copper-by-design.com if you need, but it may be cheaper to just overnight a check through USPS, since they deduct 3.3% surcharge from each transaction, which I have to add that to your cost.
